Christiane Mitchell, Program Manager (bilingual) began work with Canada Without Poverty in February 2010. She has lead responsibility for emerging new work by Canada Without Poverty around the theme of poverty and health. Christiane holds Bachelor’s degrees in Arts and in Physical & Health Education, as well as a Master’s in Advanced Practice in Community and Primary Health. She is currently completing a second Master’s degree, in Public Health. Immediately prior to joining Canada Without Poverty, Christiane worked for Safe Kids Canada as a Knowledge Mobilization Specialist.
Rob Rainer, Executive Director joined Canada Without Poverty in November 2006 following 20 years of diverse experience in environmental conservation and sustainable development, including experience at the local, Atlantic regional, national and international levels. He has worked principally in the not-for-profit sector and in senior leadership positions since 1993. Rob is one of approximately 100 Canadian Fellows of the international Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) network (www.lead.org), to which he has belonged since 1997. He has served as a school trustee and as a director and President of LEAD Canada. He is currently a director on the board of the Public Interest Advocacy Centre.
Vicky Snyder, Program Assistant (bilingual) began work with Canada Without Poverty in February 2010, and volunteered with us for a half year beforehand. Vicky has general administration and program support responsibilities. Vicky is completing her Bachelor’s degree in International Development and will start a Master’s degree in International Development in the fall of 2010, while continuing to work part-time with Canada Without Poverty.
Megan Yarema, Program Manager began work with Canada Without Poverty in February 2010, and is based in Vancouver. She has responsibility for our web site, our engagement in social networking, and for outreach and action in British Columbia. Megan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Human Security and Peacebuilding. While completing her Master’s, Megan founded and now directs the Jabu Bags Project, a Canadian social enterprise supporting an income-generating project in the rural areas of Swaziland. Megan has previously worked with the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation and The Give Store, and has raised money for Blueprint for Peace, Canadian Diabetes Association, and The United Way.
