CWP Advocacy Network
Working in alliance with Canada Without Poverty, the CWP Advocacy Network is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization founded in 2010. Our mission is to eliminate poverty in Canada, for the benefit of all.
To accomplish this, the CWP Advocacy Network directly lobbies politicians and other public policy makers, to push for policies and legislation that help prevent, alleviate and eliminate poverty in Canada.
Here is a closer look at what we do:
- Advocate for government decisions, policies and legislation that are favourable to low-income Canadians
- Credit and criticize elected officials regarding government action on poverty
- Represent the interests of the poor in Canada and critique Canada’s performance on poverty before the United Nations and other international bodies
- Undertake select court challenges to promote and defend the legal rights of low-income Canadians
- Support access to legal and social services for all Canadians
Throughout the past year, the CWP Advocacy Network has joined forces with various initiatives across Canada to support a national housing strategy, poverty elimination Act, keeping the long census form, and for poverty to become a priority on the federal government’s agenda. Partnerships with the Red Tents Campaign, Dignity for All: the campaign for a poverty-free Canada, Voices –Voix, and the BC Poverty Reduction Coalition to name a few, have created more opportunities for our advocacy work to reach across the country.
A new website is coming soon with more information on activities, events, partners, and how you can get involved!
