Become a Champion

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead

The drive for a poverty-free Canada depends on a strong network of activists.  Activists dedicated to this goal and who have the skills and tools necessary to achieve it.

Canada Without Poverty is therefore building a Canada-wide network of Champions.  Champions are volunteers who can be our eyes, ears and voice within their communities, and who can connect local challenges to the provincial/territorial and federal scenes, and vice-versa.  Click here for a list of some options for action you can pursue.

If interested, please read our Mission, Vision and Values Statements and the Terms of Reference for Champions, including our Code of Conduct.  If you are comfortable with these statements and terms, please send a message to info[at]cwp-csp.ca that includes:

  • A statement of interest in becoming a Champion – why you’d like to be involved, what you can offer and an acceptance of our Mission, Vision and Values Statements, Terms of Reference for Champions and the Code of Conduct;
  • Your résumé highlighting relevant qualifications and experience;
  • Names and numbers of two persons (unrelated to you) who can provide a reference for you.

Should you be accepted to join our team of dedicated Champions, our staff will help you get started and provide ongoing support for your efforts on our behalf.

For more information, please contact Kizzy Paris, Executive Assistant, at 613-789-0096 (1-800-810-1076).  We look forward to hearing from you – and to your contribution to a poverty-free Canada!
